“Irish Society of Poultry Fanciers:
We have spoken with the Department of Agriculture and following advice received the committee of the I.S.P.F. have regretfully decided to cancel our National Show in Gurteen on the 28th January due to the threat posed by the Avian Flu (H5N8) outbreaks.
We feel we have a responsibility to protect the many special strains and breeds of birds many of our exhibitors own and whilst the threat is small at present it is in everyone’s interest not to attend any bird gathering.
We hope to reschedule the show at a later date. We will of course refund all entry monies received. So sorry to disappoint you but better to cancel now before any more costs are incurred.
Thank you for all your support at this sad time.
Please follow the advice on bio security.
Jean Wall, Chairperson.”
